Protecting the Watershed, One Action at a Time

Stewardship is what happens when care about a place becomes action on the ground. It is the ongoing work of protecting and restoring the land, water, vegetation, and wildlife of a landscape.

SEA focuses on two priorities: protecting places that are still healthy, and repairing those that have been damaged. These priorities require practical action to maintain habitat, restore native vegetation, and reduce impacts to natural areas.

A key part of stewardship is understanding what is happening across a large area. Through BioBlitz events, participants document species in the field, turning observations into usable information about local biodiversity. We also restore habitat by planting native trees in areas where shade and structure have been lost, and we remove trash from trails and creeks before it can reach the river. SEA hosts a real-time trash cleanup dashboard that shows every community cleanup in one view and updates instantly as new reports come in.

Stewardship here is a shared effort across a broader network. We actively support the work of partner organizations whose work contributes to protecting and restoring the region’s natural resources.
