Shasta Environmental Alliance


Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA) is a non-profit organization incorporated in 2017 to fill the need for a strong, united, and organized voice to advocate for the environmental integrity of the Upper Sacramento River Watershed. Based in Redding, California, SEA is composed of various local individuals with many supporting groups that are united in their goal to educate the public, policy makers, and elected government officials on the importance of environmental conservation in Tehama, Shasta and Siskiyou Counties.

Advocacy

Advocate for the preservation of open space both in the City and unincorporated areas

Preserve Open Space

Promote and defend local tree ordinances. Expand protections for local oak and riparian habitats.

Transportation

Support alternative transportation options like bicycling, walking, and using public transportation

Go Solar

Advocate for solar on commercial buildings and, especially, on governmental buildings

Limit Urban Sprawl

Support zoning changes that limit urban sprawl, encourage infill development, and oppose developments that contribute to spreading urbanization

Slim Our Carbon Footprint

Encourage reuse and recycling, educate the public as to the amount of CO2 is generated for various activities, including driving, air conditioning, dairy farming, etc.

Community Outreach

Provide a community calendar of environmental group activities, organize meetings, forums, and workshops on environmental issues, produce media campaigns, speak at public meetings for environmentally friendly policies

The mission of the Shasta Environmental Alliance is to protect and preserve the native flora, fauna, water, and air of the Upper Sacramento River Watershed through advocacy and education.
