DESCRIPTION:Join nations around the world who are cleaning up the earth on World Clean Up Day!\n\nShasta Environmental Alliance and Beautify Shasta are hosting a community clean-up of the Kapusta Open Space in Anderson\, CA on Sunday\, September 20. We will meet at the end of Latona Road. This area is a common illegal dumping ground\, so we’ll have our hands full right from the start! There are also trails weaving around a few ponds that equal about 2 miles.\n\nSupplies will be provided. There are no facilities at the site (restroom/water)\, so prepare accordingly.\n\nAll participant’s are required to fill out this form: https://forms.gle/P3ic2Re3V5PYCRQu6 and agree to the waiver.\n\nLet’s keep our natural spaces natural for humans and animals alike! DESCRIPTION:  \n \nShasta Environmental Alliance is partnering with Climate Hope Affiliates Shasta to bring you an environmentally focused Redding City Council Candidate Forum on October 1. The event will be held at Pilgrim Congregational Church\, located at 2850 Foothill Blvd. in Redding. Nine candidates are vying for three open seats on the council. Come hear them share their positions on important local issues like the tree ordinance\, the Redding Riverfront Specific Plan\, open spaces\, preparedness for extreme weather events\, and more. \nThis event is nonpartisan and open to the public. It will be filmed and posted to SEA’s YouTube page to be viewed later if you are unable to attend in person. Doors open at 5:30 with the forum beginning at 6pm and wrapping up by 8pm. This forum is nonpartisan and open to the public. If you would like to give input on what questions to ask the candidates\, you may fill out this survey.

SUMMARY:Families in the Forest
DESCRIPTION:Registration required; limited to 20 participants. \nFamilies are invited to join SEA volunteer and California Naturalist Holly White‑Wolfe for a gentle\, sensory‑rich morning along Clear Creek designed especially for young children and their caregivers. This two‑hour outing introduces families to the restorative benefits of time in nature—supported by research showing that even a couple of hours outdoors each week can reduce stress\, improve mental clarity\, and support overall well‑being. Through simple activities that engage sight\, sound\, scent\, and touch\, participants will learn how to slow down\, notice more\, and build a deeper sense of belonging to the natural world. \nThe walk will take place on mostly flat\, easy‑to‑navigate terrain\, though closed‑toe shoes are recommended. The morning also includes a story time on picnic blankets and a playful visit from a “local gnome\,” who will help children identify nearby mountains\, waters\, and plants.  Service dogs on leash are welcome; no other pets\, please. The event will be cancelled in the event of a storm. \nTo prepare\, families should bring a picnic blanket\, water\, snacks\, and layers for changing weather. Each adult and child must complete a registration and waiver form here. After registering\, participants will receive the exact meeting location along Clear Creek.
