Independent Like the North State Announces Interactive Online Candidate Forum for California’s 1st Congressional District
North State Voters Participate Online on May 17 at 8 pm
REDDING, CA, April 24, 2018—Independent Like the North State announced today that they are hosting an online candidate forum for candidates for California’s First Congressional District. In the spirit of a town hall, the candidate forum takes place in an online video conference on Thursday, May 17 at 8 pm. Voters from throughout the North State are invited to join in the video presentation.
The video conference will simulcast live on KFOI 90.9 FM and later rebroadcast on KIXE-TV channel 9.
“The candidates in this election come from Auburn to Mt Shasta and many cities in between,” said Independent Like the North State volunteer Nathan Fairchild of Redding. “The online town hall nature of Independent Like the North State and our candidate forum makes it easier for people all across the North State to participate in our democracy.”
California’s 1st Congressional District is geographically one of the largest in the country. This makes learning about candidates more difficult. Holding this candidate forum online allows both candidates and voters to participate, no matter where they are. It’s as easy as going online in your own home.

About Independent Like the North State
Our 300 members come from Chico and Redding and small towns across the North State. We are predominantly independents. Joined by like-minded Republicans and Democrats of good conscience. We are Americans. We work together to find common sense solutions to our country’s problems. We believe reaching across the aisle is good. Compromise is not a dirty word. It is adult behavior. Moderation is good. We must work with people we disagree with to find common ground. We are fed up with partisan party politics and petty bickering in Washington. We are committed to a functioning government and ending gridlock.
