Walk Through Proposed 110-acre Development (Quartz Hill area)
November 9 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am PST
Walk Through Proposed 110-acre Development
Quartz Hill Area
Saturday, November 9, 9:30 am
This walk will be through a natural area west of Quartz Hill Road that was burned by the Carr Fire and the City of Redding, using HUD money, plans to put in a 110-acre development of homes. The City will build all of the infrastructure and K2 development will buy the lots individually, building homes on them and selling them as the market dictates. To get HUD funding, 51% of the homes must be sold to those making under 80% of the median Redding income.
This will be a nature walk with both bird and plant identification and an educational walk as to how the City is planning to develop the property and the methods it will be using. David Ledger will be the walk leader and we will have a birder to help with bird identification. Most of the walk will be on a fairly level gravel road and some will be on rough terrain, so wear boots and bring water and poles. Rain will cancel but, drizzle or light rain we will still go just be sure to bring an umbrella. If you don’t want to go into the uneven areas, you can easily return to your cars on level ground.
Park at the south end of Spinnaker Drive past Americana Way and near Keel Court. We will walk from there. Please sign up at our Meetup site and sign the waiver here.
