Bailey Cove Loop Trail Field Trip
March 8 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm PST
Bailey Cove Loop Trail
Shasta Lake
Saturday, March 8, 9 am
This will be a beautiful and educational 3-mile walk around a small peninsula that juts out into Shasta Lake with a great variety of plants and different habitats on the loop trail.
It starts out in a mixed conifer forest, blends into a chaparral, and finishes up in a canyon live oak woodland. For this field trip, we will discuss the different slopes and aspects of the trail and how they affect the vegetation. We will also see ferns and discuss their various physical features, reproduction, and where they are in the Tree of Life. This trail is easy for most hikers with a few rough spots. With the warmer weather, plants should be starting to break out in bloom. Dogs are okay if you bring cleanup bags/carry it out. Bring a hat, water, closed-toe shoes, and lunch or a snack.
This walk is limited to 15 people, so to reserve a space and find the meeting place, please sign up via the signup form here: https://forms.gle/A28BfRFo6CCVyEy6A – you must sign up via this form – the meeting location will be emailed to you once you sign up.
