City of Redding Street Tree List Approved. SEA Tree Committee provided input.
Using substantial input from SEA’s Tree Committee the City of Redding has updated its Street Tree List. The Tree Committee met a number of times before coming up with a list of trees we recommended to be added to the tree list and a few recommended for removal. Most, but not all of our recommendations were accepted. The committee consisted of Rico Montenegro, Lemoine Waite, John Alderson, Kirkwood Hale, Michael Lander, Doug Mandel, Susan Gallaugher, Aleta Carpenter, and David Ledger.
In the future we hope to come up with a recommended list of trees for new subdivisions. Too many new homes are ending up with the required shade trees being crepe myrtles, redwoods and/or palm trees. We plan on a list of 20 to 30 trees that can adapt to Redding’s climate.
